How to measure

Measure your body (to choose the right size)

• Waist: Wrap a flexible tape measure around your natural waist (the narrowest point). Keep the tape parallel to the floor and relaxed—do not suck in. Record the measurement in inches or centimeters.
• Hips: Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hips and buttocks. Keep the tape level.
• Thigh: Measure around the fullest part of your upper thigh while standing.
• Inseam: Measure from the top of your inner thigh (crotch) down to where you want the shorts to end. For a quick reference, measure a pair you already own that fits well.
• Rise: For front rise, measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the waistband at the front. For back rise, measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the waistband at the back.
• Tip: If you are between sizes, size up for comfort—especially for non-stretch denim.

Measure the garment (laid flat)

• Waist (flat): Lay the shorts flat, smooth but do not stretch. Measure straight across the top from one side to the other and double that number to get the waist circumference.
• Hips (flat): Measure across the widest part of the seat (usually 1–2" below the crotch seam) and double it for the hip circumference.
• Front rise: From the crotch seam up to the top edge of the front waistband.
• Back rise: From the crotch seam up to the top edge of the back waistband.
• Inseam: From the crotch seam along the inner leg seam down to the raw hem.
• Outseam (total length): From the top of the waistband at the side seam down to the hem.
• Thigh (flat): Measure straight across the leg 1" below the crotch seam and double for circumference.
• Hem width: Measure across the raw hem and double for the full hem circumference.
• Note: All garment measurements are taken with the garment lying flat and unstretched unless otherwise stated.
