How to measure

Measure your body (for the best fit)

  1. Bust: Wear a bra similar to the one you plan to wear with the tank. Wrap a soft tape measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor and relaxed (do not compress). Record the number.
  2. Underbust: Measure directly under the breasts, tape parallel to the floor. Useful for shelf-bra or built-in support styles.
  3. High Point Shoulder (HPS) to hem: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (near the base of the neck) straight down the front to where you want the tank to end. This gives you the desired garment length.
  4. Shoulder width: Measure from shoulder point to shoulder point across the back (where a shoulder seam would sit).
  5. Armhole depth: From the top of the shoulder straight down to the point where your arm meets the torso (armpit).
  6. Neckline depth: From the base of neck at center front down to the lowest point of the scoop or V.

Quick fit guidance: For comfortable wear across the bust allow ~1–2 in (2.5–5 cm) of ease above your full bust measurement. If you prefer a close, fitted look, use a closer measurement; if you want more coverage or mobility, size up.

Measure the garment (when you have a top to compare)

  1. Lay the tank flat and smooth out wrinkles, do not stretch.
  2. Chest (bust) width: Measure straight across the garment 1 in (2 cm) below the armholes seam from side to side, then double that number to get the circumference.
  3. Hem width: Measure across the bottom edge, then double for circumference.
  4. Length: Measure from the high point of the shoulder (HPS) down to the hem.
  5. Strap length: Measure from the top of the front shoulder edge to the top of the back shoulder edge along the strap.
  6. Neckline depth: Measure from center front at the shoulder seam to the lowest point of the scoop or V.

Tip: Compare garment measurements (bust circumference and length) to your body measurements plus desired ease to choose the best size. Account for fabric stretch—knits with elastane will give more ease than 100% woven fabrics.

Materials & what they mean

White tank tops come in several common fabric types and blends. Below are typical compositions, expected qualities, and quick care notes so you can pick the right one for comfort and longevity.

  • 100% Cotton (ring-spun or combed) — breathable, natural feel, softens over time. Can be lightweight or midweight depending on GSM (typical tanks: 120–180 g/m²). May shrink if washed hot; can be slightly see-through when very lightweight.
  • Cotton + Elastane (e.g., 95% cotton / 5% elastane) — adds stretch and recovery for a fitted, comfortable shape. Good for body-hugging styles and for bust comfort because the fabric moves with you.
  • Modal / Tencel (lyocell) blends — buttery soft, excellent drape, breathable and less prone to shrinkage. Feels smooth against skin and often more opaque than very lightweight cotton.
  • Tri-blend (cotton / polyester / rayon) — soft, vintage hand, lightweight and durable with minimal shrinkage. Often fragrance-resistant and less likely to wrinkle.
  • Polyester blends — durable, quick-drying and less transparent; not as breathable as natural fibers but good for active or travel wear.
  • Elastane/Spandex (2–5%) — included for stretch. Small percentages (2–5%) greatly improve shape retention and comfort around the bust and straps.

Opacity & weight: For a white tank that is not see-through, look for midweight fabrics (around 160–220 g/m²) or blends with polyester/modal, or tanks with a double-layered front. For fitted tanks that retain shape choose blends with elastane.

Eco / safety: Look for OEKO‑TEX or GOTS labels if you prefer certified non-toxic or organic fibers.

Model details

Example model information (replace with actual on-page data if available):

  • Height: 5'9" (175 cm)
  • Bust / Waist / Hips: 33" / 24" / 35" (84 / 61 / 89 cm)
  • Wearing: Size S

Fit note: The model is shown wearing size S and the tank fits true to size with light to moderate stretch. If you have a fuller bust or prefer more coverage across the chest, consider sizing up or choosing a style with wider straps and longer length for extra comfort.

Care guide (to keep it lovely longer)

  • Wash: Machine wash cold or gentle cycle with like colors. Turn the tank inside out to protect the face of the fabric.
  • Detergent: Use a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners on moisture-wicking or high-performance blends as they can reduce breathability.
  • Bleach: Avoid chlorine bleach. For whites, use non-chlorine oxygen-based bleach when necessary.
  • Drying: Air dry or tumble dry low. High heat can shrink cotton and damage elastane. Reshape while damp and smooth seams to keep necklines and hems looking fresh.
  • Ironing: If needed, iron on low to medium heat. Iron inside out for delicate finishes. Avoid direct high heat on elastic trims or seams.
  • Stain care: Treat fresh stains promptly. Pre-treat underarm marks with a gentle enzyme cleaner or a paste of baking soda + water, then launder. For whitening, soak briefly in an oxygen bleach solution—do not soak elastane-heavy fabrics for long periods.
  • Storage: Fold lightweight tanks to avoid strap stretching; use wide hangers for heavier knit tanks. Keep whites away from stored items that may transfer color.
  • Maintenance tips: Rotate wear to reduce pilling and wear. Use a fabric shaver gently to remove pilling if needed.

Style tips

  • Everyday casual: Tuck a white scoop tank into high-waist jeans or denim shorts with sneakers or slides for an effortless look.
  • Office smart: Layer a fitted white tank under a blazer or lightweight cardigan; pair with tailored trousers and closed-toe flats or loafers.
  • Night out: Wear a white V-neck tank with a leather or satin skirt, add statement jewelry and heels for an elevated look.
  • Layering: Use the tank as a base layer under sheer blouses, open shirts, or oversized knitwear—white is a neutral that brightens other colors.
  • Active / travel: Choose a performance blend tank and pair with leggings or joggers; add a zip hoodie for cooler weather.
  • Bust comfort styling: For fuller busts, opt for tanks with wider straps, a slightly longer torso, or built-in shelf support. A V-neck visually lengthens the torso while a scoop neck offers a classic, rounded frame—choose based on coverage preference.
  • Undergarment tips: For white tanks, wear a nude, seamless bra to minimize show-through. For deep V-necks choose a plunge bra; for scoop necks a low-center or T-shirt bra works best. Bralettes can be styled intentionally as part of the look if you want visible detailing.
  • Quick styling hacks: Try a front knot for a cropped look, a half-tuck for casual polish, or layer two tanks for added opacity and texture.
