How to measure
Use the steps below to measure your body or an existing tank so you can choose the best fit. For accuracy use a flexible tape measure, stand relaxed, and measure in inches (in) or centimeters (cm).
Measure your body
- Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and relaxed (do not squeeze).
- Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist (above the hips).
- Shoulder width: Measure from the outer edge of one shoulder to the outer edge of the other shoulder across the back.
- Torso/Front length: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (nearest the neck) straight down to where you want the hem to sit.
- Armhole fit: Measure loosely around the fullest part of your upper arm if you want a closer reference for armhole comfort.
Tip: If you prefer a relaxed look, add 1–2 in (2.5–5 cm) of ease to your chest measurement; for a fitted look, choose closer to your true measurement.
Measure a garment (flat)
- Chest (laid flat): Lay the tank on a flat surface. Measure straight across the chest 1" (2–3 cm) below the armholes from seam to seam, then double that number for full circumference.
- Shoulder width: Measure across the top from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
- Length: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (HPS) near the neckline down to the bottom hem.
- Armhole opening: Measure across the armhole opening from seam to seam and double for the circumference (or measure around the opening if possible).
- Hem width: Measure straight across the bottom hem from seam to seam and double for circumference.
