How to measure

There are two useful ways to measure a sweater: measure the garment laid flat, or measure your body to choose the right size. Use a soft tape measure and record values in cm or inches (1 in = 2.54 cm).

Measure the garment (flat)

  • Chest (pit to pit): Lay the sweater flat and smooth. Measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other, then multiply by 2 to get the garment circumference.
  • Shoulder width: Measure from shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back.
  • Sleeve length: Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff. (If you prefer, measure from the centre back of the neck to cuff for overall sleeve length.)
  • Body length (HPS): From the high point of the shoulder (base of collar) straight down to the bottom hem.
  • Hem width: Measure straight across the bottom hem left to right and multiply by 2.
  • Cuff width and neck opening: Measure across the cuff or the widest point of the V-neck if needed.

Measure your body

  • Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest with the tape parallel to the floor and arms relaxed.
  • Shoulder: Measure across the back from the bone at the end of one shoulder to the other.
  • Sleeve: Measure from the shoulder bone (or center back neck) down to the wrist with a slightly bent elbow.
  • Torso length: Measure from the top of the shoulder (near the neck) down to where you want the sweater to sit.

Fit & ease guidance

  • Compare your body measurements with the garment measurements. Recommended ease (difference between garment chest and body chest): slim fit 2–4 cm (0.8–1.6 in), regular fit 6–10 cm (2.4–4 in), oversized 10+ cm (4+ in).
  • If you have a similar sweater that fits well, measure that garment flat and use those numbers to pick size.
  • If you are between sizes: choose the larger size for comfort or layering, the smaller for a closer fit.

Materials

Ribbed-hem V-neck sweaters are made in several common fiber blends. Check the product composition on the label or product page for the exact mix. Typical options and their characteristics:

  • 100% Cotton — breathable, soft, good for mild weather, generally machine washable; may shrink slightly on hot drying and can soften or relax after washing.
  • Cotton blends (cotton + acrylic/polyester) — more durable, less prone to shrinkage, holds shape better and is easier-care than pure cotton.
  • Merino wool — temperature-regulating, soft and less itchy than standard wool; typically needs gentle wash or wool program and flat drying.
  • Wool blends (wool + synthetic) — warmer than cotton, more resilient and easier to care than pure wool.
  • Cashmere or cashmere blends — very soft and luxurious; delicate care (hand wash or dry clean recommended), may pill over time.
  • Acrylic / Polyester — lightweight, hard-wearing and easy to care; can pill and is less breathable than natural fibres.
  • Viscose / Modal — soft with good drape; often blended to add softness and sheen.
  • Elastane / Nylon (small %) — added for stretch and shape retention.

How to read the label: the fiber listed first is the dominant fiber by percentage. If exact material matters (allergies, sustainability), use the product fiche or garment care tag to confirm.

Model information

Example model details to help visualise fit (replace with the specific model details from your product page if available):

  • Model height: 185 cm / 6'1"
  • Model chest: 97–99 cm / 38–39"
  • Model usually wears: Size M
  • Fit shown: Regular fit (the sweater sits comfortably at the chest with a slightly tapered ribbed hem)

Use the model’s size as a reference: if your measurements are close to the model’s, select the same size for a similar look; size up for more room or layering.

Care guide (to keep it lovely longer)

General care tips. Always follow the garment’s care label first.

  • Washing: For cotton and durable blends: turn inside out, wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle. For wool, merino or cashmere: hand wash in cool water with a wool-friendly detergent or use a gentle/wool machine programme in a mesh bag.
  • Detergent: Use a mild, pH-neutral or wool-specific detergent. Avoid bleach and strong stain removers unless the label allows them.
  • Drying: Do not tumble dry unless the label explicitly permits. Lay the sweater flat on a towel, reshape while damp and air dry away from direct heat or sunlight.
  • Storage: Fold sweaters rather than hanging to avoid stretched shoulders. Store in a cool, dry place; use cedar blocks or lavender sachets to deter moths.
  • Pilling: Small pills are normal with wear. Remove gently with a fabric comb, pill remover or a razor held flat—take care not to cut the knit.
  • Ironing & steaming: Steam to remove wrinkles. If ironing is required, use low heat with a pressing cloth and avoid direct contact on delicate fibers.
  • Spot treatment: Blot fresh stains (do not rub). Treat with mild detergent diluted in water and rinse carefully; test on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Wear rotation: Give sweaters a day or two between wears to allow fibers to relax and to reduce washing frequency.
  • Repairs: Mend small snags or loose ribs early to prevent larger damage; a tailor or knit repair service can reweave damaged areas.

Style tips

How to wear a ribbed-hem V-neck long sleeve sweater:

  • Smart-casual: Layer the V-neck over a crisp white button-down, pair with chinos and leather shoes. Choose a shallow V for shirts; a slightly deeper V works with a T‑shirt underneath.
  • Casual: Wear over a plain or striped tee with jeans and sneakers. Roll the sleeves once for a relaxed look.
  • Office-ready: Wear under a blazer with tailored trousers; pick a fine gauge knit in neutral tones for a clean finish.
  • Color pairings: Navy pairs well with khaki, grey and olive; charcoal or black works with denim or black trousers; cream or beige complements navy or burgundy pieces.
  • Layering & proportion: Because of the ribbed hem, the sweater sits neatly at the waist—pair with slim or straight trousers to maintain balanced proportions. For bulkier outer layers, size up if you plan to layer over thicker shirts.
  • Accessories: A lightweight scarf, leather belt and a classic watch elevate the look. For colder months, add a long coat or peacoat.
  • Tuck options: Try a half-front tuck (also called a French tuck) for a modern silhouette; full tuck is suitable with tailored trousers but avoid with very short sweater lengths.
