How to measure
Use a soft measuring tape. Measure over lightweight underwear or a thin shirt, stand straight and relaxed. Record measurements in inches or centimeters (1 in = 2.54 cm).
To measure your body
- Chest: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and snug but not tight.
- Waist: Measure at your natural waist (the narrowest point) or where you normally wear your pants.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips with feet together.
- Shoulder width: Measure across the back from the highest point of one shoulder to the highest point of the other.
- Body length: Measure from the high point of the shoulder (where shoulder meets neck) straight down to where you want the tee to end.
- Sleeve (short sleeve): Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve.
To measure a t-shirt (laid flat)
- Flat chest: Lay the tee flat and smooth. Measure straight across the chest about 1" (2.5 cm) below the armholes. Double this number for full chest circumference.
- Flat body length: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder to the bottom hem.
- Shoulder seam: Measure across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
- Sleeve length: Measure from the shoulder seam to the sleeve hem.
- Hem width: Measure across the bottom hem and double for full circumference.
Fit tip: For a comfortable plus-size fit allow approximately 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) of ease at the chest for a relaxed tee; choose 0–2 inches (0–5 cm) of ease for a more fitted look.
