Men's Openwork Open Front Long Sleeve Cover-Up

How to measure

Measuring the product (laid flat)

  1. Place the cover-up on a flat, smooth surface and smooth out wrinkles—do not stretch the fabric.
  2. Use a flexible tape measure. Record each measurement in both centimetres and inches if possible.
  3. Chest (armpit to armpit): measure straight across from the inner seam at one armpit to the inner seam at the other. Double this number to get the full chest circumference.
  4. Back length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder at the center back (where the neck seam meets the shoulder) straight down to the hem.
  5. Sleeve length: measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve. If the style uses a drop shoulder or raglan sleeve, also note the measurement from the center back neck to the sleeve end for full sleeve length.
  6. Shoulder width: measure across the back from shoulder seam to shoulder seam. If there is no seam, measure from the point where the sleeve stitch meets the shoulder on one side to the other.
  7. Hem width (bottom opening): measure straight across the bottom hem and double the value for full hem circumference.
  8. Allow for a tolerance of ±1–3 cm (±0.5–1 in) due to manufacturing and measuring variations.

Measuring your body

  1. Chest: wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and relaxed (do not puff the chest).
  2. Arm length: measure from the top of the shoulder (where you took the shoulder measurement) down to where you want the sleeve to end (wrist or just past the wrist).
  3. Height: knowing your height helps estimate where the hem will fall (hip, mid-thigh, etc.), especially for long styles.
  4. How to choose size: compare your body chest circumference to the garment’s chest circumference. For a relaxed/open look, choose your usual size; add 2–6 cm (1–2.5 in) if you plan to layer over thicker garments or want extra drape.

Materials & fabric information

Openwork knit means the fabric is intentionally constructed with a breathable, patterned mesh or lace-like structure that creates texture and airflow. Exact fiber content can vary by production batch and color—always check the product label for definitive composition. Below are common materials and what to expect from each:

  • 100% Cotton — Soft, breathable and comfortable for warm weather. May soften further with wear and can shrink if washed hot. Care: wash cold or gentle, reshape and lay flat to dry.
  • Linen or Cotton–Linen blend — Excellent breathability and a natural textured drape. Tends to wrinkle (part of the linen character). Care: hand wash or gentle cold machine wash; reshape and dry flat.
  • Viscose / Rayon — Fluid drape and smooth hand feel; lightweight and breathable but weaker when wet. Care: hand wash cold, avoid high-heat drying, dry flat.
  • Acrylic / Polyester (synthetics) — Durable, quick-drying and shape-retaining. Often used to make openwork knits more resilient. Care: machine wash cold on gentle cycle; avoid hot irons and high-heat tumble dry.
  • Blends — Combine the best traits (e.g., cotton/viscose for softness + drape). Follow the most delicate fiber’s care instructions.

Trim details (buttons, beads, or rope ties) may be made from metal, wood or synthetic materials; follow label guidance for cleaning these components. When in doubt, follow the garment care label.

Model information

Example presentation for fit reference:

  • Model height: 6'1" (185 cm)
  • Model chest: 38" (97 cm)
  • Wearing size: M
  • Fit on model: relaxed/open-front silhouette; falls to approximately mid-thigh on a 6'1" frame

Fit advice: this cover-up is designed with a relaxed drape. If you prefer a closer silhouette, consider sizing down. If you plan heavy layering underneath, size up.

Care guide (to keep it lovely longer)

  • Always check the garment’s care label first—follow the manufacturer’s instructions when they differ from these recommendations.
  • Washing: hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent for the gentlest care. If using a machine, turn the garment inside out, place it in a mesh laundry bag and use a gentle/delicate cycle with cold water.
  • Detergent: use a mild, non-bleach detergent. Avoid fabric softeners on natural fibers that can reduce breathability.
  • Drying: reshape while damp and lay flat to dry in the shade to prevent stretching and color fading. Avoid tumble drying—heat can deform openwork knits.
  • Ironing: if needed, use a low heat setting and press through a cloth. For delicate fibers (viscose), use a cool iron or steam from a distance.
  • Storage: fold and store flat when possible. Avoid hanging on thin or wire hangers to prevent shoulder distortion—use wide, padded hangers if hanging is necessary.
  • Snag & pill care: do not pull loops. Gently push a snagged loop to the inside with a crochet hook or blunt needle; for pills use a fabric shaver carefully on low power.
  • Spot-cleaning: treat stains promptly with cool water and mild soap. Avoid hot water until you know the fiber content (some fibers set stains in heat).
  • Avoid abrasion: keep away from sharp surfaces, Velcro, and coarse accessories to reduce snags.

Style tips

  • Beach & pool: wear as a cover-up over swim trunks and a tank top—pair with leather sandals or espadrilles and a straw hat.
  • Casual daytime: layer it over a fitted tee or polo with slim chinos or denim and clean sneakers for an easy, breathable look.
  • Smart-casual evening: throw it over a lightweight button-down or plain tee with tailored trousers and suede loafers. Add a slim leather belt or a simple chain to complete the outfit.
  • Festival/urban styling: pair with a graphic tee, distressed denim shorts or jeans, and high-top sneakers; add bracelets or a beanie for texture contrast.
  • Proportion advice: because the cover-up is open and relaxed, keep the layer underneath slim-fitting to avoid bulk. If the cover-up is long, balance the silhouette with cropped or tapered bottoms.
  • Accessories: minimal pendant necklaces, woven belts, lightweight scarves or a simple watch complement the knit's texture without overwhelming it.
  • Color pairing: neutral colors (white, black, navy, beige) are versatile. For bolder color cover-ups, pair with muted base layers to keep the cover-up as the statement piece.
