Men's Full Size Openwork Button Down Short Sleeve Shirt — Plus Size
How to measure
To choose the best fit, measure your body or a shirt that fits you well. For accuracy, use a soft measuring tape, stand naturally and keep the tape parallel to the floor.
Measure your body
- Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms, keeping the tape level.
- Shoulder width: Measure across the back from one shoulder seam point to the other (where a shirt's seam would sit).
- Sleeve (short sleeve): Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve hem.
- Shirt length: From the high point of the shoulder (base of the neck) straight down to the hem.
- Waist / Hem: Measure around the natural waist or around the fullest part of hips if you plan to wear untucked.
Measure a garment (laid flat)
- Button the shirt and lay it flat on a smooth surface.
- Flat chest: Measure across the chest 1" (2–3 cm) below the armholes from side seam to side seam, then double that number to get the full chest circumference.
- Shoulder: Measure across the back from seam to seam.
- Length: Measure from the high point of the shoulder to the hem.
- Sleeve: Measure from the shoulder seam to sleeve hem.
Fit tip: For a relaxed fit allow 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) of ease in the chest above your body measurement; choose a larger size if you prefer layering or a roomier silhouette.

Materials
- Main fabric
- Lightweight openwork construction (eyelet/crochet-style or open weave) that delivers breathability and a textured look. Common compositions for this style are 100% cotton, cotton–linen blends, or viscose blends for a soft drape. The exact fiber content appears on the product label.
- Lining (if applicable)
- Some styles include a partial lining or inner placket in a lightweight voile or jersey (often cotton or rayon) to reduce transparency at the chest area.
- Buttons & trim
- Buttons are typically resin or mother-of-pearl look-alike; buttonholes are reinforced. Thread and seam finishes are selected to balance strength and comfort.
- Performance
- The openwork weave provides excellent airflow and a lightweight feel—ideal for warm weather. Because of the open texture, the shirt can be semi-sheer and pairs well with a contrasting or tonal undershirt.
Check the sewn-in label for the exact material breakdown of the specific item you receive.

Care guide (to keep it lovely longer)
- Read the label first: Follow the garment's sewn-in care instructions when present.
- Wash: Hand wash or machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Turn the shirt inside out and fasten buttons to protect the openwork. Use a mesh laundry bag for extra protection against snags.
- Detergent: Use a mild detergent, avoid bleach and bleach-based stain removers.
- Dry: Reshape and dry flat or hang to dry in shade. Avoid high-heat tumble drying to reduce shrinkage and preserve openwork integrity.
- Iron/steam: If needed, iron on low to medium heat on the reverse side or use a pressing cloth. Steam is a gentle alternative to remove wrinkles without pressing directly on openwork.
- Storage: Fold for long-term storage to avoid shoulder stretching. Keep away from sharp objects and jewelry that can snag the fabric.
- Quick fixes: Repair small snags promptly by tucking loose threads to the inside rather than pulling. For stubborn stains, spot-treat gently or consider professional cleaning.
Pro tip: For delicate openwork, hand washing and air-drying will extend the life and maintain the texture of the fabric the longest.
Style tips
Openwork button-downs are versatile—wear them relaxed for warm-weather looks or dress them up for smart-casual occasions.
- Casual summer: Pair with linen or cotton shorts and leather sandals for a beach-to-brunch vibe.
- Smart casual: Wear with tailored chinos, loafers or low-top sneakers; button the top two buttons and keep sleeves unrolled for a neater appearance.
- Layering: Use a plain crew-neck or tank top underneath. A contrasting undershirt will highlight the openwork pattern; a tonal one will keep the look subtle.
- Evening: Wear under an unstructured blazer for breathable layering—leave the shirt slightly untucked for a relaxed yet refined finish.
- Color pairing: Neutrals (white, navy, khaki, olive) pair easily; for more contrast try denim or darker bottoms to anchor the look.
Plus-size styling tips
- Choose a length that falls past the hips for balance and comfortable coverage.
- Front-tuck or half-tuck to define the waist without pulling the fabric tight.
- Pick a moderately fitted undershirt to keep clean lines under the openwork without adding bulk.
- Vertical details (elongating hems, straight-leg pants) help create a balanced silhouette.
Accessories: minimal necklaces, a leather watch, or a woven belt complement the textured openwork without competing with it.
