How to measure

Use a soft cloth tape measure. Measure on bare skin or over thin clothing, stand straight and relax. If you have a similar pair of shorts you like, measure that one flat and compare.

Measure your body

1. Waist: Measure around the natural waistline or where you normally wear the shorts (not too tight). Record circumference.
2. Hips: Measure at the fullest part of the hips/seat.
3. Thigh: Measure around the fullest part of the thigh about 1" (2–3 cm) below the crotch.
4. Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam down to where you want the shorts to end.
5. Outseam / Length: Measure from the top of the waistband to the hem.

Measure the garment (flat)

Lay the shorts flat on a smooth surface and smooth out wrinkles (do not stretch). Record these flat measurements and multiply widths by two for circumferences.

• Waist (flat): Measure across the top of the waistband unstretched. For drawstring or elastic waistbands we also recommend measuring relaxed and fully stretched.
• Inseam: From crotch seam to hem.
• Outseam/Length: From top of waistband to hem.
• Front rise: From crotch seam to top of the front waistband.
• Thigh width: Across the leg 1" (2–3 cm) below the crotch seam.

Fit tip: For a comfortable everyday fit allow about 2–4 in (5–10 cm) of ease at the waist. For a snug/athletic fit allow 0–2 in (0–5 cm).
