How to measure

Use these steps to measure the pants (garment) and your body so you can pick the right size and get the fit you want.

Measuring the garment (lay flat)

• Waist — Lay the pants flat, fasten the waistband, smooth any folds. Measure straight across the top from left edge to right edge. Double that number to get the waist circumference.
• Hips / Seat — Measure across the widest part of the seat (typically 18–20 cm / 7–8" down from the crotch seam). Double to get full hip circumference.
• Inseam — Measure from the crotch seam (where the legs meet) down the inside leg seam to the hem.
• Outseam / Total length — Measure from the top of the waistband down the side seam to the hem.

• Leg opening (hem) — Measure across the hem and double for the leg opening circumference.

Measuring your body

• Waist — Measure around your natural waistline or the point where you plan to wear the pants. Keep tape snug but not tight.
• Hips — Measure around the fullest part of your hip and seat, standing with feet together.
• Inseam — Measure from crotch to floor (or to the ankle) while standing; ask someone to help for accuracy.
• Compare — Match your body measurements to the garment-measured dimensions and allow ease. For a classic wide-leg fit allow roughly 6–12 cm (2.5–5") of ease at the hip depending on how roomy you prefer the silhouette.
