How to measure

To choose the best fit, measure either your body or a pair of shorts that fit you well and compare those numbers with the product measurements on the size chart.

Measure your body

• Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your torso or where you want the shorts to sit. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
• Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks (usually ~7–9 in / 18–23 cm below the natural waist).
• Front rise: Measure from the top of the front waistband straight down to the crotch seam.
• Back rise: Measure from the top of the back waistband to the crotch seam.
• Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg opening.
• Thigh: Measure 1 in (2.5 cm) below the crotch seam across the leg and double that number.
• Length: Measure from the top of the waistband down the side seam to the hem.

Measure a pair of shorts (recommended)

• Lay the shorts flat on a hard surface and zip/button them.
• Measure across the waistband and multiply by two to get the full waist circumference.
• Measure across the fullest part of the hips and multiply by two.
• Measure front rise, inseam, thigh and hem opening across the flat garment and double where applicable.
• Because raw hems can be slightly uneven, measure at a few points along the hem and use the longest measurement for length.

Fit tip: If the denim is rigid (100% cotton), allow a little extra room for comfort and possible shrinkage. If the fabric contains elastane/stretch, the shorts will sit closer to your body.

Fit note: These shorts are designed to sit at the natural/high waist depending on the cut and typically have a short inseam (roughly 2½"–3½" depending on size). If you prefer extra room, consider sizing up; if the denim contains stretch and you like a snug fit, choose your usual size.

Care Guide (to keep them lovely longer)

• Before first wear: Turn inside out and wash separately if you’re concerned about indigo transfer.
• Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Use a mild, color-safe detergent and turn the shorts inside out to protect distressing and hardware.
• Protect the raw hem: Use a mesh laundry bag for extra protection during machine washing to reduce excessive fraying.
• Avoid bleach: Do not use chlorine bleach or harsh detergents.
• Drying: Air dry flat or hang to dry to preserve shape and prevent excess shrinkage. If you must tumble dry, use low heat and remove while slightly damp.
• Fraying control: Raw hems will naturally fray. Trim long stray threads with sharp scissors. To stop excessive fraying, secure the edge with a small stitch or a dab of clear fabric glue where desired.
• Ironing: Iron inside out on low to medium heat, avoiding heavily distressed areas.
• Spot cleaning: Spot clean when possible to reduce the number of full washes and preserve color.
• Storage: Fold and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to limit fading.
