1 Carat Moissanite Crisscross Split Shank Ring — Measurements, Materials & Care

How to measure

Ring size — at home, accurate results

  1. Wrap a thin strip of paper or a piece of non-stretchy string around the base of the finger you plan to wear the ring on. Mark where the ends overlap.
  2. Measure the marked length with a millimeter ruler — this is the finger circumference (mm).
  3. Use the circumference (mm) to find the corresponding ring size (see conversion table below) or compare to a printed ring-size chart. If between sizes, choose the larger size for comfort.
  4. Best practices: measure at the end of the day (fingers are warmest), avoid measuring when hands are cold, and measure more than once. If your knuckle is much larger than the base of your finger, measure both and choose a size between or choose a slightly larger size.

Measure an existing ring

  1. Lay the ring flat and measure the inner diameter (inside edge to inside edge) with a ruler or caliper in millimeters.
  2. Match that inner diameter to the conversion table below to find the ring size.
  3. Measure across the center — avoid measuring near a thick shank or uneven areas.

Measure the stone and band

  • Center stone: use calipers to measure the stone across its widest point to get diameter (mm). A standard round 1.00 ct stone is approximately 6.5 mm in diameter (may vary slightly by cut and manufacturer).
  • Band width: measure the band at its narrowest and widest points (mm) if you need to compare to other rings or plan stacking.
  • Setting height: measure from the base of the ring to the top of the stone to check how high the ring will sit on the finger (useful for everyday wear vs. protective low-set styles).

Materials — what this ring is made of

Moissanite (center & accent stones)

  • Chemistry & origin: moissanite is silicon carbide (SiC). Most moissanite used in jewelry today is lab-created and is an ethical, sustainable gemstone alternative to mined diamond.
  • Visual & physical properties: very high brilliance and “fire,” refractive index higher than diamond (gives extra sparkle), and a Mohs hardness around 9.25 — excellent for daily wear.
  • Care note: moissanite is durable and generally safe for ultrasonic and steam cleaning, but always consider the setting and accompanying metals before using aggressive cleaners.

Metals (common options for this model)

  • Sterling Silver (925): 92.5% silver + alloy. Bright, affordable; may tarnish over time and can be plated with rhodium for a white, scratch-resistant finish.
  • 14k & 18k Gold (yellow/white/rose): solid gold alloys. 14k is harder and more durable; 18k is richer in color but slightly softer. White gold is typically rhodium-plated for extra whiteness.
  • Platinum: dense, naturally white, hypoallergenic and highly durable. Does not require plating but patinas over time and may show surface scratches differently than gold.
  • Gold plating / vermeil: economical options where a thin layer of gold is applied over a base metal (often silver). Plating will wear over time and may require replating.
  • Rhodium plating: often applied to white gold or silver to enhance whiteness and scratch resistance; plating is normal to reapply after several years depending on wear.

Model details — what to expect

  • Design: crisscross split shank — two polished bands cross around the center stone to create a dynamic, elevated look. The split shank adds detail and visual width without bulk.
  • Center stone: 1.00 carat round brilliant moissanite (approx. 6.5 mm diameter; exact mm may vary by cutter/manufacturer).
  • Accent stones: many crisscross styles include micro-pavé or channel-set smaller stones on the bands to enhance sparkle. Accent sizes typically range ~0.01–0.03 ct each (very small millimeter sizes).
  • Band width & profile (approx.): each arm of the split shank is typically 1.5–3.0 mm at its narrowest point and may widen where bands cross. Actual dimensions vary by ring size and chosen metal.
  • Setting: secure prong or shared-prong settings are common for crisscross rings to highlight the center stone while letting light reach it from multiple angles.
  • Available finishes: high polish, rhodium-plated white finish, and in many cases your choice of metal (sterling silver, 14k/18k gold, or platinum). Confirm the exact metal and finish when ordering.

Care guide (to keep it lovely longer)

  • Daily wear: avoid wearing the ring during heavy manual labor, vigorous sports, gardening, or when using harsh chemicals (bleach, ammonia, pool chlorine).
  • Cleaning: soak in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 10–20 minutes, gently brush with a soft toothbrush, rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth. Repeat monthly or as needed.
  • Ultrasonic & steam cleaners: moissanite itself tolerates ultrasonic/steam cleaning, but if the ring has fragile pavé or glued elements, or delicate settings, check with a jeweler first.
  • Rhodium & plated finishes: these can wear over time—have rhodium or gold plating refreshed by a jeweler when the finish begins to dull or thin.
  • Storage: store the ring separately from other jewelry to avoid scratching. Use a soft pouch or the original box.
  • Inspection: have prongs and settings checked by a professional jeweler at least once a year (sooner if you notice loosening or catching on fabric).

Style tips

  • As an engagement ring: the crisscross split shank pairs beautifully with a slim, contoured wedding band that follows the curve, or a simple straight band for contrast.
  • Stacking: choose narrow rings (1.5–2.5 mm) to stack either side of the crisscross; consider mixing textures (matte vs. high polish) for a curated look.
  • Metal choice: white metals (white gold or platinum) emphasize the icy brilliance of moissanite; yellow or rose gold gives a warm, vintage-inspired contrast.
  • Proportion: on smaller fingers, a delicate shank with a 1 ct center looks balanced; for larger hands or to make a bolder statement, consider a slightly wider or higher-set variation.
  • Outfit pairing: modern/formal — white gold + moissanite with clean silhouettes; romantic/boho — rose gold with soft textures and floral accents.
  • Everyday wear: low-profile settings and secure prongs are best if you want to wear the ring daily without catching on clothing or activities.

Note: listed dimensions are approximate and may vary by manufacturer, metal choice, and ring size. If you need exact measurements for a specific production batch (stone mm, exact band width, total weight, or certification), please contact the seller or jeweler for a specification sheet before purchase.
