Zip Up Long Sleeve Hooded Jacket
How to measure
Use a soft tape measure and measure twice for accuracy. Record both inches and centimetres (1 in = 2.54 cm).
Measuring the jacket (lay flat)
- Chest (pit to pit): Zip the jacket, lay it flat, measure straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam. Double that number to get full chest circumference.
- Back length: From the base of the collar (center back) straight down to the bottom hem.
- Shoulder width: Measure across the back from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
- Sleeve length (shoulder): From the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff. Alternatively measure from the center back of the neck to the cuff for overall sleeve length.
- Hood depth: With the hood laid flat, measure from the center back seam to the front edge.
- Hem & cuff width: Measure the bottom hem and cuff openings flat, then double to get full circumference.
Measuring your body (to choose the right size)
- Chest/bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, with the tape level and snug but not tight. Add 1–4 in (2.5–10 cm) of ease depending on how roomy you want the jacket.
- Sleeve length: From the center back of the neck across the shoulder to the wrist with the arm relaxed.
- Shoulder width: From one shoulder bone to the other across the back.
- Torso length: From the base of the neck to the point where you want the jacket to finish.
- If possible, compare these measurements to a jacket you already own that fits the way you like for the most reliable sizing.
Materials
Exact composition varies by version—check the product label or item details for the precise breakdown. Typical materials for this style include:
- Cotton / Cotton blends: Soft and breathable; often used with a brushed fleece interior for warmth. May slightly shrink on first wash.
- Polyester / Microfleece: Durable, quick-drying and colorfast; commonly used for linings and performance finishes.
- Nylon / Technical shells: Lightweight and wind- or water-resistant when treated—used in windbreakers and rain-ready styles.
- Fleece (polyester or blends): Warm and insulating; follow care tips to reduce pilling.
- Elastane / Spandex (small %): Adds stretch for better movement and recovery in cuffs, hems or fitted styles.
- Lining & insulation: Mesh for breathability, taffeta for smoothness, or synthetic/down fill for extra warmth.
- Hardware & trims: Zippers (often YKK), drawcords, toggles and ribbed trims—these affect care and durability.
Note: "Water-repellent" or "DWR" is a finish applied after manufacturing and can be refreshed with reproofing products if it wears off.
Model information
The product imagery is shown on a model for fit reference. Example reference: model height 5'10" (178 cm) wearing size M. Example model measurements: chest 36" (92 cm) / waist 28" (71 cm) / hips 38" (97 cm). Use these reference points together with the garment measurements above to select your best size.
Fit tip: If you plan to wear bulky layers underneath, consider sizing up one size for added room; choose your usual size for a closer fit.
Care guide (to keep it lovely longer)
- Prepare: Zip the jacket and turn it inside out before washing to protect the outer face and trims.
- Wash: Machine wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid bleach.
- Avoid fabric softener: Fabric softeners can reduce the performance of technical fabrics and water-repellent finishes.
- Drying: Lay flat to dry or tumble dry low according to the care label. Reshape garments while damp. High heat can shrink cotton and damage synthetic finishes.
- Ironing & heat: If necessary, iron on low and avoid direct heat on trims, logos or waterproof coatings.
- Spot cleaning: Treat stains promptly with mild soap and cold water; blot rather than rub vigorously.
- Zippers & hardware: Close zippers before washing. Lubricate sticky zippers with a graphite pencil or zipper lubricant if needed.
- Pilling: Remove pills from fleece with a fabric comb or depiller tool.
- Storage: Hang on a wide hanger or fold neatly in a cool, dry place—avoid cramped or humid storage.
- Reproofing: Renew DWR finishes with a suitable wash-in or spray-on reproofing product when water no longer beads on the surface.
Always follow the garment's care label instructions first—those are specific to the exact materials and finishes used on your jacket.
Style tips
- Casual everyday: Zip up with a plain tee, slim jeans and low-profile sneakers for an easy, clean look.
- Layered: Wear over a button-down or lightweight knit; under a heavier coat for cold weather as a mid-layer.
- Athleisure: Pair with tapered joggers and trainers for a sporty, comfortable outfit.
- Smart-casual: Combine with chinos and desert boots; leave the jacket unzipped to reveal a collared shirt or fine-gauge sweater.
- Proportions: Balance longer jackets with slimmer bottoms; cropped or shorter styles look great with higher-rise trousers.
- Accessories: Add a beanie, scarf or a structured backpack to complete the look.
- Seasonal tips: Lightweight versions work well for spring/fall; fleece-lined or insulated styles make excellent mid-layers in winter.
