How to measure

Below are two useful sets of instructions: how to measure the garment itself (recommended if you have the pants on hand) and how to measure your body to choose the right size.

Measuring the product (lay flat)

1. Waist: Lay pants flat and smooth. Measure straight across the top edge from side seam to side seam and then double that number to get the full waist circumference. For elastic waists, record both the relaxed and fully stretched measurements to show the range.
2. Hip: Measure across the pants 1" (2.5 cm) below the crotch seam from side to side, then double the number for the full hip circumference.
3. Front rise: Measure from the top center front of the waistband straight down to the crotch seam.
4. Back rise: Measure from the top center back of the waistband straight down to the crotch seam.
5. Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam down the inside leg to the bottom hem.
6. Outseam / Total length: Measure from the top of the waistband down the outside leg to the hem.
7. Thigh: Measure 1" (2.5 cm) below the crotch seam across the leg and double the number.
8. Hem opening: Measure the width of the bottom hem across and double to get the circumference.

Measuring yourself (for fit)

1. Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your torso or where you will wear the pants; keep the tape snug but comfortable.
2. Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips while standing with feet together.
3. Inseam: Measure from the crotch to where you want the pant to hit (for cropped styles this is commonly above the ankle).
4. Compare: Compare your body measurements with the garment measurements. For elastic-waist styles, consider the waist range; if between sizes, choose the larger size for added comfort across the hips.

Tip: Record measurements in inches and/or centimeters (1 in = 2.54 cm). Allow ~0.5–1" (1–2.5 cm) tolerance for manufacturing variance and fabric give.
