How to measure

Use a flexible tape measure, measure over light underwear, stand naturally and relax the stomach. For best results have someone help you.

Measuring your body

• Waist — Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist (usually above the belly button). Keep the tape snug but not tight.
• Hips — Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks, with feet together.
• Inseam — Measure from the crotch seam down the inside of the leg to where you want the hem to sit.
• Front rise — Measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the front waistband (useful to determine how high the pants will sit).
• Thigh — Measure around the fullest part of the thigh, about 1–2 inches (2–5 cm) below the crotch.
• Leg opening — Measure around the ankle area where the pants will finish (or measure the hem width and double it).

Measuring the garment (laid flat)

• Waist (flat) — Lay the pants flat, measure across the top of the waistband from side to side and double that number to get the full waist circumference.
• Hips (flat) — Measure across the pants approximately 3–4 inches (8–10 cm) below the crotch seam and double.
• Inseam — Measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg hem.
• Front rise — Measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the front waistband.
• Thigh (flat) — Measure across the pant 1–2 inches below the crotch and double to get the full thigh circumference.
• Leg opening (hem) — Measure across the hem and double for full hem circumference.

Quick tips: write measurements down, compare body measurements to the garment's flat measurements (remember to double flat measurements), and if you're between sizes consider the intended fit (relaxed vs. fitted).

Check the product label for the exact composition. Common fabric options for wide leg pants and what to expect from each:

• Cotton / Cotton blends (e.g., 98% cotton, 2% elastane) — Breathable, soft, comfortable. May have slight shrinkage; small elastane content adds stretch and recovery.
