How to measure
Use a soft tape measure and stand relaxed. Measure over thin clothing or underwear. For most accurate results have someone help you.
Measure your body
- Bust — Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust. Keep the tape level across your back and parallel to the floor. Breathe normally; the tape should be snug but not tight.
- Waist — Find your natural waist by bending to one side (the crease is your waist). Measure around that narrowest point, keeping the tape level and relaxed.
- Hips — With feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks (usually about 7–9 inches / 18–23 cm below the waist, but measure where the garment will sit).
- Height / Dress length — Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (HPS) at the base of the neck down to where you want the hem to fall (ankle, floor, etc.).
- Torso length (optional) — For fitted maxi shapes, measure from shoulder at the neck to the crotch point to check how the garment will sit through the body.
Measure the garment (laid flat)
- Bust (flat) — Lay the dress flat. Measure straight across from underarm seam to underarm seam, then multiply by 2 to get the circumference.
- Waist (flat) — Measure across the narrowest part of the dress, multiply by 2 for circumference.
- Hips (flat) — Measure across the fullest point near the hem, multiply by 2.
