Openwork Button Up Long Sleeve Shacket
How to measure — quick and accurate
Use a soft tape measure and measure on bare skin or over a thin layer of clothing. For best results, measure twice and compare to a similar garment you already own.
Body measurements (how to measure yourself)
- Bust / Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor and snug but not tight.
- Waist: Measure at your natural waistline (narrowest part), relaxed and breathing normally.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of the hips/seat, with feet together.
- Arm / Sleeve length: From the center back of the neck (at the base) across the shoulder to the wrist, or from the shoulder seam to wrist if measuring a jacket you already own.
- Height: Helpful for comparing how the shacket will sit (hip length, mid-thigh, etc.).
Garment measurements (how we measure this shacket)
Lay the shacket flat, fully buttoned, smoothed but not stretched. Measure straight across (left to right) and double where indicated:
- Chest (pit to pit): Measure straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam — multiply by 2 for full circumference.
- Shoulder width: From shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back.
- Sleeve length: From shoulder seam to sleeve end (or center back neck to cuff if noted).
- Back length: From the high point of shoulder (where shoulder meets neck) down to the hem.
- Hem width: Measure straight across the bottom edge; multiply by 2 for full circumference.
Fit & ease guide
Compare your body measurements to the garment measurements (or our size chart). Recommended ease (difference between garment and body measurement):
- Fitted: 0–4 cm (0–1.5 in)
- Relaxed: 6–10 cm (2.5–4 in)
- Oversized: 10+ cm (4+ in)
For a roomy, layered look (shacket over sweaters), choose the relaxed or oversized recommendation.
Materials & construction
This style features openwork detailing — a lightweight eyelet/knit texture created by intentionally spaced stitches for breathable patterning and visual interest. Typical materials used for openwork shackets include:
- Cotton / Cotton blends: Soft, breathable and comfortable for transitional seasons.
- Viscose / Rayon blends: Drapey and smooth with a lightweight hand.
- Acrylic / Polyester blends: Durable, shape-retaining and easy-care options.
- Wool / Wool blends: Warmer and insulating where used (may require gentler care).
Hardware is commonly resin, corozo (vegetable ivory) or metal depending on the color and finish. Exact fiber composition and hardware details are shown on the product label and the product details tab — please check those for the precise percentages and any special linings or trims.
Model details (reference)
To help you judge fit, product pages usually list the model's measurements and the size they are wearing. Example reference you can expect:
- Model height: 177 cm / 5'10"
- Wearing size: S (EU 36 / US 4)
- Model measurements: Bust 82 cm / 32", Waist 61 cm / 24", Hips 89 cm / 35"
Use these as a guide — compare the model's measurements and wearing size to your own measurements and the garment measurements above.
Care guide — to keep it lovely longer
Openwork fabrics need a little extra attention to stay at their best:
- Washing: Follow the product label first. When in doubt, machine wash cold on a gentle or delicate cycle inside out in a mesh laundry bag, or hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent.
- Detergent & additives: Use mild detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners on delicate knits and openwork to preserve texture.
- Drying: Reshape and dry flat on a clean towel; avoid tumble drying which can distort shape and shrink fibers.
- Ironing: If needed, steam or iron on low heat inside out. Use a pressing cloth for delicate fibers.
- Pilling & snags: Remove pills with a depiller or fabric shaver. For snags, gently pull the loop through to the inside and secure with a small stitch if necessary.
- Storage: Fold and store flat rather than hanging heavy openwork knits to prevent shoulder stretching. Store in a breathable bag or drawer; use cedar or lavender sachets to deter moths for wool blends.
- Professional care: Consider professional dry cleaning for wool-rich blends or if the label recommends dry clean only.
Style tips
- Casual everyday: Wear open over a fitted tee or tank with high-rise jeans and sneakers — leave the shacket unbuttoned and roll the sleeves for an easy look.
- Layered transitional look: Layer the shacket over a thin turtleneck or lightweight knit, then add straight-leg trousers and ankle boots.
- Define the waist: Add a slim leather belt over the shacket to create shape and wear it as a light jacket.
- Over dresses: Throw it on over a slip dress or midi dress for soft contrast between structure and texture.
- Office neat: Button up and tuck the front into tailored trousers or a pencil skirt; add loafers or low heels and minimal jewelry.
- Accessories: Pair with gold or silver minimal jewelry, a structured crossbody bag, or a wool scarf in cooler months.
Tip: Because of the openwork texture, thinner or fitted layers underneath will show the pattern. Choose underlayers intentionally for contrast or coverage.
