How to measure
Tools: soft tape measure, flat surface and a pen/paper. We recommend measuring a pair of pants that fits you well, laid flat, for the most accurate comparison.
- Waist (flat): Lay the waistband flat and smooth. Measure straight across from one top edge to the other. Double that number to get the full circumference. For elastic or drawstring waists, measure relaxed and fully stretched to know the range.
- Hip: With the pants flat, measure across the fullest part of the hip — typically 7–9 cm (3–3.5") below the crotch seam — from one side to the other. Double for full circumference.
- Front rise: Measure from the crotch seam (where the inseams meet) straight up to the top of the front waistband. This shows how high the pants will sit in front.
- Back rise: Measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the back waistband. This helps understand seat coverage and comfort.
- Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam down the inside leg seam to the hem. This determines where the hem will fall on the leg.
