How to measure

Two measurement methods are useful: measure your body to pick the right size, and measure a garment laid flat to compare to the product measurements shown in listings.

Tools

• Soft tape measure
• Flat surface (table or floor)
• Pen and paper or phone to note numbers

1) Body measurements (to choose a size)

1. Chest: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under your armpits and across your shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and relaxed (not pulled tight).
2. Shoulder width: Measure across the back from shoulder bone to shoulder bone (where a shirt seam would sit).
3. Height & torso length: Note your overall height and the length from the base of your neck to where you want the vest to sit — useful for choosing length.
4. Fit preference: Decide if you want a fitted, regular or relaxed fit (see ease recommendations below).

2) Garment measurements (how we measure the vest)

Lay the vest flat, smooth out wrinkles but don’t stretch fabric. Measure across the front, seam-to-seam, then multiply across measurements by two to get circumferences.

1. Chest (laid flat): Measure 1" (2–3 cm) below the armhole seam, seam-to-seam, then multiply by 2 for chest circumference.
2. Length: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (HPS) at the neckline straight down to the hem.
3. Shoulder width: Measure from shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back.
4. Armhole opening: Measure from top of armhole to its bottom or seam-to-seam across and multiply by 2.
5. Hem width: Measure across the bottom hem and multiply by 2 for hem circumference.
6. Neck drop (V-depth): Measure from HPS to the lowest point of the V.

Recommended ease (garment chest minus body chest)

• Fitted: 0–1" (0–2.5 cm)
• Regular: 2–4" (5–10 cm)
• Relaxed/Layered: 4–6"+ (10–15+ cm)

Tip: If you often wear the vest over a button-down shirt (or a thin knit), allow at least 2" (5 cm) of ease for comfortable movement.

• 100% Cotton — Soft, breathable and comfortable for warmer months or sensitive skin. Dries quickly and is easy to care for, but can shrink with hot water and may lose shape over time.
• Merino Wool — Fine, soft, temperature-regulating, and naturally odor-resistant. Great for layering year‑round. Usually requires gentle care (hand wash cold or wool cycle; reshape and lay flat to dry).
• Wool or Wool Blends — Warm and insulating. Blends (wool + synthetic) improve durability and machine-washability in some cases; follow the care label.
• Cashmere or Cashmere Blend — Extremely soft and luxurious, lightweight yet warm. Delicate: prefer hand wash cold or dry clean and always dry flat.

Before washing

• Turn the vest inside out to reduce abrasion on the outside surface.

Washing

• Cotton & synthetic blends: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colors. Use mild detergent.
