How to Measure

Use a flexible cloth tape measure. For the most accurate fit, measure wearing a lightweight t-shirt (or the layers you plan to wear under the shirt) and stand naturally. If possible, have someone help you for the body measurements. You can also measure a shirt that fits you well, laid flat.

Garment measurements (measuring a shirt flat)

• Chest (pit-to-pit): Measure from one underarm seam straight across to the other, then multiply by 2 for full circumference.
• Shoulder (seam to seam): Measure straight across the back from one shoulder seam to the other.
• Sleeve: Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff (compare to your shoulder-to-wrist body measurement).
• Length: Measure from the base of the collar seam (center back) down to the hem.
• Hem width: Measure across the bottom hem and multiply by 2 for full circumference.

Fit tip: When choosing sizes, use your largest measurement as the deciding factor. For a comfortable fit allow about 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) of ease at the chest for a relaxed fit; reduce the ease for a trimmer look. Consider fabric and possible shrinkage (cotton may shrink slightly with hot water/high heat drying).
