How to measure

Use a soft measuring tape and measure over a thin layer of clothing. Record measurements in inches or centimeters (1 in = 2.54 cm). When comparing to a garment, always compare your body measurements to the garment measurements rather than relying only on size labels.

1. Chest — Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and relaxed.
2. Waist — Measure around your natural waistline (usually above the belly button and below the ribcage).
3. Hips — Measure around the fullest part of your hips/seat with feet together.
4. Shoulder width — Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other across the back (where a shoulder seam would sit).
5. Torso length — From the high point of the shoulder (near the neck) straight down to the point where you want the vest to end.

To measure the vest (garment measurements)

1. Chest (laid flat) — Lay the vest flat and measure straight across the chest from one underarm seam to the other, then double that number for full chest circumference.
2. Back length — Measure from the center back of the collar/neck seam down to the hem.
3. Shoulder width — Measure seam to seam across the top of the back.
4. Hem width — Measure straight across the bottom hem and double for circumference.
5. Armhole — Measure around the armhole opening or measure from shoulder seam down to the underarm seam to estimate fit.

Fit tip: for comfortable layering allow about 1–3 inches (2.5–7.5 cm) of extra room (ease) around the chest depending on how much you plan to layer underneath.
