How to measure
Use a soft measuring tape. For garment measurements, lay a well-fitting shirt flat on a table. For body measurements, stand relaxed wearing a thin layer. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
- Chest (pit-to-pit): Measure straight across the front from one armpit seam to the other about 1" (2.5 cm) below the armhole. Double that value to get chest circumference (example: 24" flat = 48" chest).
- Shoulder width: Measure across the back from seam to seam where the sleeves join the body.
- Shirt length: From the highest point of the shoulder (next to the collar seam) down to the hem.
- Sleeve length (short sleeve): From the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve.
- Hem width: Measure across the bottom hem from side to side and double for circumference.
- Neck: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits (for collar fit) or measure collar band end-to-end on the garment.
Fit tip: allow 2–4" (5–10 cm) of ease in the chest for comfortable movement; add extra if layering or preferring a relaxed fit.
