How to measure

Use these steps to measure a shirt (garment) or your body so you can pick the best size. Always measure shirts laid flat and buttoned for consistent results.

Measure the garment (laid flat)

1. Chest (pit to pit): Lay the shirt flat with buttons closed. Measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other. Multiply that number by 2 to get the chest circumference.
2. Shoulder: Measure across the back from one shoulder seam to the other along the top.
3. Length: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (where the shoulder seam meets the collar) straight down to the bottom hem.
4. Sleeve (short sleeve): Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve hem.
5. Hem: Measure straight across the bottom edge and multiply by 2 for the circumference.

Measure the body

1. Chest: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug.
2. Neck: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits.
3. Waist: Measure around your natural waist or where you normally wear your pants.

How to use the measurements: compare your body measurements (plus desired ease) to the garment measurements. Example: if your chest is 38" (96.5 cm) and you want ~2" of ease, look for a shirt with ~40" (101.5 cm) chest circumference (i.e., a 20" flat chest measurement).
