How to measure

Use a soft tape measure and measure over light clothing. Stand naturally and keep the tape snug but not tight. You can either measure your body or measure a similar pair of pants laid flat — both methods are given below.

Measure your body

1. High waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your torso where you want the waistband to sit (for high-waist styles this is above the natural waist). Record circumference. (in / cm)

Measure a garment (lay flat)

1. Waist: Lay the pants flat, measure straight across the top of the waistband, then multiply by 2 for circumference.

3. Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam to the bottom hem along the inside leg.
4. Outseam: Measure from the top of the waistband to the hem along the outside leg for total length.
5. Thigh: Measure across the thigh 1" below the crotch seam, then multiply by 2.
6. Leg opening: Measure straight across the hem and multiply by 2.
