How to measure

All garment measurements below are taken with the pants laid flat on a smooth surface unless otherwise noted. Multiply any "flat" measurement by 2 to get the full circumference.

1. Waist (flat, unstretched):

   Lay the waistband flat and smooth. Measure straight across the top edge from one side seam to the other and multiply by 2. For elastic waistbands also take a second measurement with the waistband gently stretched to show the stretched circumference.

2. Hips / Seat:

   Measure across the fullest part of the pants (usually about 7–9 cm / 3–3.5 in below the crotch seam). Multiply by 2 for the full hip circumference.

3. Front rise / Back rise:

   Front rise: from the top of the front waistband down to the crotch seam. Back rise: from the top of the back waistband down to the crotch seam. These show how high the pants sit on the body and how much rear coverage to expect.

4. Inseam:

   Measure from the crotch seam straight down the inside leg seam to the bottom hem.

5. Outseam / Total length:

   Measure from the top of the waistband (front or back) down to the bottom hem along the side of the pants.

6. Thigh:

   Measure across the leg at about 2.5–5 cm (1–2 in) below the crotch seam, then multiply by 2.

7. Leg opening (hem width):

   Measure straight across the bottom hem of one leg and multiply by 2.

How to measure yourself (for sizing)

• Natural waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your torso (usually above the belly button) while standing relaxed.
• Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips/seat, keeping the tape level and relaxed.
• Inseam (your leg): Measure from crotch to the floor while standing (wear the shoes you plan to pair with the pants if length matters).
• Compare: Compare your body measurements to the garment measurements. For elastic waist pants, allow for the relaxed and stretched waist ranges.
