How to measure
To choose the best fit, take both your body measurements and — if possible — compare to the garment measurements. Use a soft measuring tape, stand relaxed and keep the tape level and snug (not tight).
Body measurements (measure yourself)
- Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist (natural waist). Keep tape parallel to the floor.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips/buttocks with feet together.
- Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam to the floor (wear the shoes you’ll most likely wear with the joggers).
- Thigh: Measure around the fullest part of the upper thigh, a few inches below the crotch.
- Rise (optional): From crotch point straight up to where you want the waistband to sit (front rise for how they sit at the waist).
Garment measurements (measure a pair of joggers laid flat)
- Waist (laid flat): Measure across the top of the waistband while the joggers are relaxed, then measure fully stretched to show elastic capacity. Multiply by 2 for circumference.
- Hips: Measure across 1"–2" below the crotch seam; multiply by 2.
- Front rise: From the crotch seam to top of the front waistband.
- Inseam: From the crotch seam down the inside leg seam to the hem.
- Outseam / Total length: From top of waistband down the outside seam to the hem.
- Thigh & hem opening: Measure width across and multiply by 2 for circumference.
Tip: For elastic waist joggers, record both relaxed and stretched waistband measurements so you can compare to your body measurements and the size chart. If you don't have a tape, use a piece of string, mark it, then measure the string against a ruler.
